Virtual Runner

A dramatic and accessible way to compare athlete performances

Swiss Timing’s virtual runner technology has enjoyed enormous popular success. It means that there is a graphic representation of the leading athlete’s position compared to that of the current competitor. The virtual runner has been particularly well received in swimming and alpine skiing events and can easily be adapted to other sports.

The virtual runner offers a more visually dramatic way to evaluate an athlete’s position relative to the lead than ever before. In the past, for example, an indicator below a skier’s elapsed time showed the time ahead of or behind the current leader. Now, with the best performer’s position represented graphically on screen, viewers can see immediately where the current competitor is positioned relative to the best run.

Swiss Timing virtual runner technology perfectly complements our other virtual graphics and further enhances the viewing experience for television audiences.
